描述Coat of arms of Sudan (1956–1970).svg	An approximate version of the state emblem or national coat of arms of Sudan from 1956 to 1970, based on the following two sources: The International Flag Book in Color by Christian Fogd Pedersen (1971), p. 91. The 1972 edition of the Petit Larousse encyclopedia/dictionary, p. 1708. Information on this emblem is somewhat hard to come by, the above two available sources differ in a number of details, and my artistic skills are somewhat limited, so this image undoubtedly differs from the original official Sudanese government specification of the emblem, but all the elements of the emblem should be present. The Arabic text reads جمهورية السودان jumhuriyat as-Sudan "The Republic of Sudan".

Article 198 of the Constitution of the South Sudan declares that "All laws of South Sudan shall remain in force [...] unless new action are taken [...]." As there is no new South Sudanese copyright law at this time, the Sudanese one is still in force there.
