In some temporary situations, the risk of deep vein clot formation is higher, including:
- Being in hospital or just leaving the hospital - especially unable to move around (e.g. after surgery)
- Often in bed
- Long-distance travel by plane, car or train (more than 3 hours)
- In pregnancy or have had a baby in the past 6 weeks
- be dehydrated
Sometimes, deep vein clot formation may have no obvious cause.
