Reusing references: Can we look over your shoulder?
Apologies for writing in English.
The Technical Wishes team at Wikimedia Deutschland is planning to make reusing references easier. For our research, we are looking for wiki contributors willing to show us how they are interacting with references.
- The format will be a 1-hour video call, where you would share your screen. More information here.
- Interviews can be conducted in English, German or Dutch.
- Compensation is available.
- Sessions will be held in January and February.
- Sign up here if you are interested.
- Please note that we probably won’t be able to have sessions with everyone who is interested. Our UX researcher will try to create a good balance of wiki contributors, e.g. in terms of wiki experience, tech experience, editing preferences, gender, disability and more. If you’re a fit, she will reach out to you to schedule an appointment.

公佈《通用行為準則》協調委員會章程批准投票結果
各位好，
我們十分感謝大家關注《通用行為準則》的進展。我在此宣佈《通用行為準則》協調委員會章程的批准投票結果。1746位貢獻者在本次批准投票中投票，1249名選民支持該章程，420名選民不支持。而是次投票過程允許選民對該章程發表評論。
投票統計報告和選民評論摘要將在未來幾週內在元維基上發佈。

有關維基百科中的w:韓國瑜爭議事件, 目前正在存廢覆核請求進行討論, 此條目目前還在維基百科內, 有維基人認為可以移動到維基學院。（細節可參考w:Wikipedia:存廢覆核請求#韓國瑜爭議事件）。
我想請維基學院的社群協助看一下，此條目若真的移動到維基學院，是否是維基學院可以接受的內容？

通用行為準則協調委員會組織章程批准報告公布；現正受理協調委員會委員候選人申請登記
您好：
目前，通用行為準則協調委員會（U4C）之《組織章程》批准評論報告已經公布。此外，自即日起至4月1日止，將受理通用行為準則協調委員會委員候選人申請登記。
通用行為準則協調委員會致力於公正執行《通用行為準則》（UCoC）之規定。我們歡迎社群成員申請登記為協調委員會委員候選人。有關委員會職責及其他資訊，詳見組織章程頁面。
依《組織章程》規定，通用行為準則協調委員會置委員16人，其中有8人由全體社群成員選出，另有8人按地區分配選出，以確保協調委員會有效反映社群多元組成。

維基媒體基金會理事會 2024 遴選
大家好，
今年，維基媒體基金會理事會的四名由社群和維基媒體自治體選出的理事會成員的任期將會結束[1]。維基媒體基金會理事會邀請整個維基媒體運動參與今年的選拔過程並投票填補這些席位。
維基媒體基金會理事會選舉委員會將在維基媒體基金會工作人員的支持下監督這一過程[2]。維基媒體基金會理事會治理委員會從無法參與 2024 年由社群和維基媒體自治體選出的理事會成員遴選過程候選人的理事會成員中成立了一個理事會遴選工作小組，由Dariusz Jemielniak，Nataliia Tymkiv，Esra'a Al Shafei，Kathy Collins，和 Shani Evenstein Sigalov 組成[3]。該小組的任務是為維基媒體基金會理事會監督 2024 年理事會成員選擇流程，並向理事會通報情況。請參閱此處以了解有關選舉委員會、理事會和工作人員角色的更多詳細資訊 [4]。

The Community Affairs Committee (CAC) of the Wikimedia Foundation Board of Trustees invites you to give feedback on a draft Procedure for Sibling Project Lifecycle. This draft Procedure outlines proposed steps and requirements for opening and closing Wikimedia Sibling Projects, and aims to ensure any newly approved projects are set up for success. This is separate from the procedures for opening or closing language versions of projects, which is handled by the Language Committee or closing projects policy.
You can find the details on this page, as well as the ways to give your feedback from today until the end of the day on June 23, 2024, anywhere on Earth.
You can also share information about this with the interested project communities you work with or support, and you can also help us translate the procedure into more languages, so people can join the discussions in their own language.

經20年多年來大數據統計有些字不宜用來命名！例如溱字其形、意、音中的意為土石流，用來命名一生波折、勞累由如山上樹木，喜得陽光、朝逢甘露任勞任怨，當一切稍微有成時土石流過境，一切回到原點，易白忙一場。 堯、舜、禹、聖字不宜用來命名！用者：固執、難相處，較自以為是，意外傷害頻繁發生，脊椎易受損，筋骨酸痛，喜批評他人，可探究旁邊的親友是否如此亦可證！

U4C Special Election - Call for Candidates
Hello all,
A special election has been called to fill additional vacancies on the U4C. The call for candidates phase is open from now through July 19, 2024.
The Universal Code of Conduct Coordinating Committee (U4C) is a global group dedicated to providing an equitable and consistent implementation of the UCoC. Community members are invited to submit their applications in the special election for the U4C. For more information and the responsibilities of the U4C, please review the U4C Charter.
In this special election, according to chapter 2 of the U4C charter, there are 9 seats available on the U4C: four community-at-large seats and five regional seats to ensure the U4C represents the diversity of the movement. No more than two members of the U4C can be elected from the same home wiki. Therefore, candidates must not have English Wikipedia, German Wikipedia, or Italian Wikipedia as their home wiki.

As communicated by the Charter Electoral Commission, we reached the quorum for both Affiliate and individual votes by the time the vote closed on July 9, 23:59 UTC. We thank all 2,451 individuals and 129 Affiliate representatives who voted in the ratification process. Your votes and comments are invaluable for the future steps in Movement Strategy.
The final results of the Wikimedia Movement Charter ratification voting held between 25 June and 9 July 2024 are as follows:
Individual vote:
Out of 2,451 individuals who voted as of July 9 23:59 (UTC), 2,446 have been accepted as valid votes. Among these, 1,710 voted “yes”; 623 voted “no”; and 113 selected “–” (neutral). Because the neutral votes don’t count towards the total number of votes cast, 73.30% voted to approve the Charter (1710/2333), while 26.70% voted to reject the Charter (623/2333).
Affiliates vote:
Out of 129 Affiliates designated voters who voted as of July 9 23:59 (UTC), 129 votes are confirmed as valid votes. Among these, 93 voted “yes”; 18 voted “no”; and 18 selected “–” (neutral). Because the neutral votes don’t count towards the total number of votes cast, 83.78% voted to approve the Charter (93/111), while 16.22% voted to reject the Charter (18/111).
Board of Trustees of the Wikimedia Foundation:
The Wikimedia Foundation Board of Trustees voted not to ratify the proposed Charter during their special Board meeting on July 8, 2024. The Chair of the Wikimedia Foundation Board of Trustees, Nataliia Tymkiv, shared the result of the vote, the resolution, meeting minutes and proposed next steps.
With this, the Wikimedia Movement Charter in its current revision is not ratified.

The following seats were not filled during this special election:

AdvancedSiteNotices禁止外部品牌連結？
有人認為中文維基新聞及中文維基百科AdvancedSiteNotices不得完全提及Telegram、Instagram、Google Form等品牌名稱及使用這些外部連結，有需要立即於phabricatorT375253修復。本人認為甚為不合理、深感遺憾，並希望徵詢閣下諸位更多意見。他說：「本人誠懇以為，在站內通告中不被允許連結或提及電報、Instagram 或 Google等商標名稱。此類做法在中央通告上也是不被允許的，故本人無從理解為何在此處應有不同政策。倒不如在維基百科的專門頁面中連結至上述網站，再由站内通告連結至該維基百科頁面，如此舉措理屬妥當。此事務須即時改正（除非閣下能提供有人士稱可准許）。I'm pretty sure you're not allowed to link to or even mention the brand names Telegram or Instagram or Google from a sitenotice. you can't from a CentralNotice, I don't see why a different policy should apply here. you can link to those pages from a page on your wiki and link from the sitenotice to that page on your wiki. but not directly from sitenotice to the external site. this is urgent, must be fixed immediately. Hello everyone, a small change will soon be coming to the user-interface of your Wikimedia project. The Wikidata item sitelink currently found under the General section of the Tools sidebar menu will move into the In Other Projects section.

'Wikidata item' link is moving, finally.
Hello everyone, I previously wrote on the 27th September to advise that the Wikidata item sitelink will change places in the sidebar menu, moving from the General section into the In Other Projects section. The scheduled rollout date of 04.10.2024 was delayed due to a necessary request for Mobile/MinervaNeue skin. I am happy to inform that the global rollout can now proceed and will occur later today, 22.10.2024 at 15:00 UTC-2. Please let us know if you notice any problems or bugs after this change. This participant-driven meeting will be organized by the Wikimedia Foundation’s Language Product Localization team and the Language Diversity Hub. We will also have members from the Wayuunaiki community joining us to share their experiences with the Incubator and as a new community within our movement. This meeting will have a Spanish interpretation.
